Last month, I met up with Kristin and Mike for their engagement photos!
I first met them in 2016, while Kristin was pregnant with their daughter Lena. I had put out a model call on Facebook for a birth, since up until that point, I’d only photographed them for my family members. My aunts kept their horses at the same barn as Kristin’s and they sent her my way! I did end up documenting Lena’s birth (you can check out that blog post and slideshow here), newborn photos, and I’ll be photographing their wedding this September.
I became Facebook friends with Kristin after the birth, and when I saw that Mike had proposed, I crossed my fingers they would contact me for their wedding! He proposed on Christmas Day with his grandmother’s amazing ring.
They’re a bit of a quirky couple (Kristin dyed her hair to look like fire the week before our session!), with snakes for pets plus a love of motorcycles, but the few times I’ve spent with them, their love for each other radiates. Every time they looked at each other during their session, they couldn’t help but smile or laugh (or kiss! lol). But I got a special glimpse at their relationship 3 years ago, after being in the hospital with them for 12 hours welcoming their little one. Mike dotes on Kristin, and she is just smitten with him.
For their engagement photos, we traveled around downtown Battle Creek and the Kellogg House. While the sun was nowhere to be found, we were just thankful it wasn’t raining! Up until that day, it had rained most of the days in May and June!
I can’t wait to photograph their wedding at the end of September.
