Documenting day-to-day living in your home
Photojournalism is it's own genre. No posing, just purely candid moments. Included are births, newborn sessions (in hospital and at home), and day in the life family sessions. It offers a raw look into your life and emotions.
I come to your home and spend the entire day with you. I will document everything from when your feet first hit the floor in the morning until you tuck the kids into bed and get the first quiet minute to relax at the end of the day. I am an additional family member for the day!
I recommend having a couple of activity ideas on the back burner for a DITL session JUST in case. The bigger the family, the more there is to photograph (and believe me, interesting stuff just HAPPENS on it's own! haha). Baking cookies, riding bikes, visiting the playground, grocery shopping, playing a board game, going out to dinner, etc are all options. Anything your family likes to do that take about an hour or two.
I do hospital newborn photos in the first 48 hours, but home newborn photos are typically done around 6-8 weeks once baby has become more animated and active and their little personalities are starting to shine through from the sleeping and eating and pooping stage! ;) Some of my clients have chosen to do both sessions since they turn out so differently- both sessions are included in the booking of a birth.
I only take on 1-2 births a year- between the months of November and March. This is on a first come, first served basis. I am booking for winter 2017-2018 starting this summer. :)
If you'd like more information specifically about birth coverage, fill out my contact form or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I'll send a contract and invoice for the session retainer. Both must be filled out and paid before the session is scheduled and date held.
A week before, I'll send you a questionnaire to find out more about your family before we do the session. This can also help us decide what kind of activities we could plan to do while I'm there.
How the day of the session goes will depend on what kind of shoot you book, but we will have fun no matter what!
I spend some time first thing getting to know the family a little bit before I start shooting, but the important thing is to just be yourselves!
For birth and newborn photos, you'll get a sneak peek the day after.
For DITL clients, your story is best told in a blog post or slideshow versus only a couple of images at a time so you can skip to the next one. ;)
The timeline here will depend on what kind of session you booked. Since a full DITL session can have me taking upwards of 1500 photos, it'll be more similar to a wedding day turnaround time than a typical family session. But you will end up with many more photos!
Like with the blog and slideshow, the timeline here depends on what kind of session you had! Your gallery link will be sent to you by email with a password and download info. You can send the gallery and downloads to anyone you like! You can also order prints from there.
This ends our experience together, but I hope it won't be the last time!
